friday senses

Making: a lot of tea. We are still under the weather over here.

Seeing: lovely photographs, from this blog.

Smelling: the lingering scent of nag champa incense. It's in my hair and clothing.

Tasting: homemade granola, with blueberries, sunflower seeds, and little chunks of dark chocolate.

Hearing: my husband splitting logs.

Feeling: like my head might explode. To quote George Carlin, "There are ghosts in my sinuses."

Loving: my beautiful friends, offering support from miles and miles away. Also loving/depending on my books of poetry.

Reading: Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver. The woman can do no wrong, I'm telling you.

Praying: for sunnier days and a reprieve from sickness.

good weekend to you friends. xo

  3. So lovely Brittany!! Bummer on the sicknesses though, they just keep coming around this year and it's driving me bonkers.
Nag Champa is amazing, brings back a rush of memories when I smell it :). And so you are loving Flight Behavior then? Good to know! Not that I need my list lengthened, but it manages to happen regardless!
Wishing you and a fast recovery for all and a sweet finish to the weekend...
    xoxo

    1. thank you for taking time to comment. :)
we are stillllllll dragging through sniffles and coughing, etc. oh brother. will it ever be over? i hear you on the bonkers. just...all kinds of bonkers happening all around mama.
yes, Flight Behavior! i actually had to hop out of bed last night around 12 and finish it! i only had a few more pages left and couldn't bear to not know what happens next. i think you'll dig it. it's not only a novel, but a thoughtful commentary on the effects of global warming--something you definitely seem conscious enough to appreciate. much love to you. <3

  4. Love this! I miss burning my nag champa. My cat Gypsy has lung disease, so I can't burn anything. I'll have to check out her new book. I really likes Prodigal Summer.

    1. hi laney! *waves* :)
i put the empty box in my drawers and it scents my clothes. it's nice. i can sort of relate on not being able to burn it, at times. my brother has really severe asthma. alas, he is not a cat. but when he comes over i have to put all and any smelly things away, and any kind of smoke at all is out of the question. so i understand. :)
i just finished the book and it's wonderful, just like all the others. my all-time favorite is Animal Dreams. i can read that over and over and never get sick of it. xoxo

  6. oh nag champa. I'm a bit timid of burning it in my current digs, it isn't for everyone and I don't want to overwhelm my roommates. what kind of tea (?) is in those little baggies?? +Chelsea

    1. i loooove nag champa, patchouli, sandalwood...a lot of the scents that some consider to be "stinky", which i can see why they'd think that. i burn it for my husband and myself. my son doesn't like it too much. :)
the teas are, from left to right, alfalfa, hibiscus, and passion flower. i like to buy the herbs individually and make my own blends at home. <3
